The Pink Is Real!

And this was on a GOOD run! O_O

PINK BEAN.

Even Evan fears this terrifying but cuddly cute demon, who personifies the adage "Don't judge a book by its cover." You have to be Level 140 to even reach this fiend, as he rests in the depths of the Temple of Time, and then you have his statues to deal with...

But what if I told you he was a superstar? (Fangirls scream is ecstasy.) Okay, I bribed them to do that, but no joke - you can actually PLAY as the greatest enemy in Maplestory! (Well, before Empress and the Chaos Bosses shunted him out.)

For a limited time only, until October 6(which is coincidentally the release date of Disgaea 5 for PS4), you can play as a Pink Bean. However, this character will be deleted once October 7 rolls around during the maintenance period then, so don't waste any time!

 
(Also, unlike the last time this event happened, Nexon was lazy and we didn't get a temporary character slot for him so if you have a full character server like I do with Yellonde, El Nido, and several others, you're SOL on the Pink Bean goodness and will have to go to a fresh server.)

So... Why should you play the bane of all Maplers?!? I'll enlighten you.

First off, he's funny. He is a Warrior class so you will be using warrior equips. HOWEVER...

• You can't do trades with anyone or use the Free Market, so forget about merching with it.
• You can't participate in any special stories like Black Heaven, but you can still do theme dungeons like Fairy Academy as well as stuff like Friendstory.
• You can't do the Boss Arena or the Tower of Oz with it.
• It has no link skill or character card and I don't think you can give it link skills but you can still use Character Cards since they affect everyone.
• Most quests will be unavailable to Pink - the Curbrock quests, the demon door quests you get at Level 18, and the 
• Pink can't go to Star Planet or enter the Cash Shop, so any reward points he gets from bossing must be collected by another character.
• Even if he could equip Cash Items, his appearance will NEVER change so Cash Items are mostly useless.
• He won't get any Tot's Quests, so no free stuff from that.
• He can't learn professions or do anything in Ardentmill, although he can still raise his personality stats.
• He can join a guild but can't form one.
• He won't gain the Party EXP boost unless he's joining a party with other Pink Beans.
• He can't get Hot Time boxes.
• He can't get married(who'd marry the most powerful kawaii in the universe?!?), take a part-time job(nobody will hire him), or go into Heliseum - the Pantheon story won't be accessible, sadly.

Other than that, he's pretty decent.

He also has his own little secret diary like the Event Book. These quests are ONLY doable for Pink Bean. Also, once you collect Pink Bean's rewards...

You can go to another non-Pink Bean and collect special rewards from the diary as well! ^_^

Not only that, but as your Pink Bean hits certain levels, you can claim rewards for non-Pink Beans based on his level, which also include a potion...

Also, the level up animation suddenly became amazing! (And it destroys all enemies in range!)

That gives you free levels! Yep, once Pink Bean hits Level 30, 50, 70, and 100, you get free EXP potions that will level up a character to that level. This is a BOON for those mules you don't want to spend hours grinding on. :)

EDIT: In my haste, I checked and found that you won't get the EXP potions until AFTER the Pink Bean character is deleted, so my bad. Check the update page HERE to find out more.

Yeah, that rune activation happened in the middle of a vine and he looks like he's got a boogie. @_@

Did I mention that Pink Beans have three special runes, like Thunder that slams down every so often or Mighty which makes Pink grow like if he had chugged a Giant Potion?!

Okay, Pink Bean isn't EVERYTHING that the new update has given us.

(1) Tower of Oz has been changed - now the quest to enter it is only given at Level 140. Yep, fourty levels higher, which means that the tower is 40x tougher. Yikes! :( This won't affect anyone who took the quest to enter before the update. However, the rewards are greater!

Also, the Maple Guide has been greatly overhauled. Gone is the little map at the top. Instead, starting at Level 30, you now get a preview of what to expect in coming levels and it gives a list of teleport links to areas you can go to if you want. This makes the Guide SO much more efficient!

Also new are Burning Fields and Missions: If a hunting ground has not been visited in over two hours, it gets a burning effect and you gain more battle EXP from monsters there! Of course, it'll fade away if you spend too much time in there.

There are also mini-missions that pop up. For characters at Level 33 or higher, you might get a sudden mission telling you to do something in a time limit. The time limit I got here was generous, but the mission may be harder, like killing a certain number of Elite mobs or defeating a boss!

But if you complete the mission, you have a minute to grab the reward, either spell traces or something else really good... And speaking of good...

It looks like the market for Clean Slates will drop drastically in the future. Now there are new Rare Chests. Whenever anyone does damage to an Elite Boss, they will pop out a rare Chest bubble. Grab it to get a rare chest. You have ten minutes to open it and you'll get rare items like Clean Slates, Meister Cubes or more! Also, if you defeat the Elite Boss with a killing blow, you get a second Rare chest! Goodness gracious!(This is the only way Pink Beans can get rare items as the bonus stages don't produce rare chest bubbles for them.)

So I created my Pink Bean, HannibalBB. (If you don't get the reference, Google "Hannibal Bean Xiaolin Showdown." ;]) And I've gotten it to Level 40 now - Pink Bean's Dignity gives 20% EXP boost (sort of like Rank 3 Elven Blession) and I plan on getting a Spirit Pendant for it to boost that EXP more so he can hit Level 200 and complete the Pink Bean diary for me! Ciao for now! ^_^
