It's already five days into the PBS(Pink Bean Superstar, not the education local channel!) event and I've already filled out 80% of the Pink Bean secret diary. However, I haven't touched HannibalBB. Instead I got a free character expansion slot coupon with the second maintenance on Aug. 19, and decided to put it on Scania, where I am working on a main character Battle Mage. The second PB, RosePavun(Rose is French for Pink and Pavun is Norwegian for Bean, of course), actually got to Level 140 in three days thanks to the 2x EXP/Drop events this weekend, though I missed the Sunday morning one because, you know, sleep is necessary. :p
I had to do one theme dungeon to get a medal and face accessory to keep my defenses up, but quickly found that... well...
Pink Bean just isn't sturdy enough to solo most bosses until hitting Level 140 - that's when he can equip his new Lionheart gear(gotten by doing one quest) and some of his boss accessories(gotten from hitting Level 100 and getting that diary quest finished). (Oh, and I didn't show it but when Pink Bean is killed, he doesn't become a ghost, he disappears into his portal and stares creepily at you.)
I got wasted by Easy Horntail's right head thrice because I didn't realize that the lightning blasts are an instant-kill. And it uses Seduce, making the battle nerve-wracking(since you can't use potions while under Seduce).
But eventually I get the hang of it and get to the final part in the fourth attempt and win. ^_^
It's also hard to get into a party for bosses, and some bosses(coughcoughRanmaru) are ALWAYS filled so you have to camp out and wait for the boss to be available. :(
I also managed to get Ambition and Charm to Level 10, completing two more quests. Also, I found that Pink Bean can get link skills so I'll touch on my other mules to get them to Level 70.
Now, I will be house-sitting and dog-caring for my folks and my little sister(whose dogs are very rambunctious scamps, so I will have a hard time sleeping XD) but I did bribe my folks into letting me install Maplestory's program onto their computer(which is very primitive so expect lots of lag)...
And since I will be there for THE ENTIRE WEEK(they'll leave today and come back on Sunday - did I mention they are going to Iowa with my sister on Sept. 16 for TEN DAYS!?!?), I plan on a long-term project to do while spending time with Pink Bean to begin the long grind to Level 200 and the evil twin fight Normal Pink Bean to get the Pink Bean soul box for my main...
Namely, playing my Zero Mule, Gem1n1meg, and grinding Alpha and Beta through the ENTIRE story! I NEED that 10% EXP boost character card for Pinkie to get those 60 levels, considering I'll be grinding on Krus for hours! I had to spend debit card money because I accidentally overspent on a storage slot addition. (I didn't check my balance, which is why I suck at budgeting. :( )
Before I end this, I wanted to let you know a few things I missed in the last update about Maplestory's new content...
A mystic gate has appeared in every town. Starting September, you can enter it once a day to challenge one of the low-tier bosses without having to do a prequest. (Zakum, Horntail, etc.) You can only enter the gate at Level 75 or higher, though. You'll get nice rewards too.
Cassandra has set up a lemonade stand and three times a day you can play a lemon-picking shell game with her. Even if you lose, you get a lemonade item in your ETC slot. Trade 20 of these to get some nice items.
The party quests have been revamped. Ice Knight is temporarily unavailable, and now each party quest has a special waiting room you are sent to, and you can enter these waiting rooms outside of the party quest guest house in spots you would expect them to be at. (I stumbled into Kenta In Danger while exploring Aqua Road.)
Also, Cryse - the quest dealing with helping a Cyclops recover his ram friend, makes a grand return as a party quest, and like Dimensional Invasion, you don't have to do it multi-player. It's really easy and employs grappling hooks, and you can collect Cryse Cores at the end to exchange them for one of two sets of eye accessories. You have to be Level 80 or higher to get into it, but it's really great for those who are waiting for other PQs to clear out. 6_^
Sadly, for those who want the lame Cracked Glasses, you'll have to wait until Level 110 because Ludi PQ has been revamped to Levels 110-140. :(
Also, the new runes are not restricted to PB - ANY character can use them and there are three new runes: The Giant Rune like I mentioned, a Thunder rune that has thunderbolts randomly strike enemies and one-shot them(you still get EXP) and a Dark Rune that summons THREE Elite Mobs at the spot. This will make Elite Bossing SO much easier. ^_^
Also, the Maple Guide revamp is more extensive than I thought - there's actually a flowchart map to the left which shows what sort of things to expect at certain level milestones, up to the Black Heaven ship at Level 220 and higher. Very impressive.
Also, if you complete all the quests for a theme dungeon, or defeat a certain number of a certain enemy, you will get a completion stamp on the Guide. I don't see any rewards for this but it's still pretty cool nonetheless, me being the collect-freak I am. ^_^
And so I leave you with this - my main character getting a rare Familiar Card for Stumpy. What were the odds? Ciao for now!
